The Ocean Planet

Lemonade Lecture - An Underwater Universe - July 8

Your voyage of discovery to learn about the watery world of the planet earth and the beautiful and fascinating creatures that live in it begins with a visitor from Nauticus.  Over 99 percent of the earth is ocean. The program, “Seeing the Sea,” will help you get a better feel for this huge living space made up of mountain ranges, valleys and vast spaces inhabited by astounding marine life.  The scientist will bring along props, including a shark skeleton that will give you a close-up view of some of our “nautical neighbors.”

Tales To Be Told - The Big Blue Sea - July 9

A story time filled with words like ocean waves that crash and whisper in your ear is bound to lead to excitement and discovery.

Creative Activities - A Puzzling Predicament - July 10

The oceans support beautiful and fascinating forms of life that cannot exist on land.  Millions and millions of creatures flourish from surface to sea floor.  Your challenge will be to join your friends in solving the puzzle of where some of your nautical neighbors might be found.

Discovery Day - Nauticus "An Immersing Experience" - July 11

Our first Discovery Day adventure will take us to Norfolk, Virginia, to visit Nauticus.  What exactly is Nauticus? What goes on there? Nauticus is a museum that features cool science, an IMAX theatre and a battleship.  Our visit will include all of this plus touching a live shark and seeing many unusual and interesting nautical exhibits.
